三姨太之死再次让尤氏公馆宠罩在迷雾中。经检定，三姨太是在吃汤圆时受到极度惊吓噎死的，关大铭并不知道有人装鬼，但这种奇怪的死因让他感到是人为造成的。贾小蝈以为是自己私自威胁三姨太吓死了她，惶惶不可终日，只得求助罗兴泉。罗兴泉当然不相信，要他暂不报告关大铭，暗中寻找真相。关大铭本来对四姨太已经消除了怀疑，想找她好好聊聊，没想到一夜之间她的态度又发生了变化，好像有什么难言之隐。虽然暂无线索，但侦破范围已经很小了，尤家大院就只剩下这几个人，凶手必然在其中，而曾管家无疑嫌疑最大。曾管家明白自己的处境已经很危险，思前想后，唯一的办法只有促使尤绍雄尽快逃离，既保全尤家的命脉，又能摆脱自己的困境。关大铭从玉香婶知道了贾小蝈去恐吓过三姨太，又知道了罗兴泉包庇他，非常生气。罗三拐不服气，决心干件漂亮事给关大铭看看。他已经发现了有人藏在大院里的蛛丝马迹，夜里带着贾小蝈去捉“鬼”。曾管家准备了钱和食物正打算悄悄去见尤绍雄，帮助他逃走，却发现贾小蝈紧紧盯着自己，不敢轻举妄动。躲藏在密室里的尤绍雄并不知道三姨太已经死了，饥渴交迫无法忍受的他只得再次出来觅食时，被罗兴泉候个正着。当过军官的尤绍雄拼命顽抗，差点脱逃，幸亏关大铭赶来抓住了他。审讯结果令关大铭非常意外，除了二姨太，尤贤白和三姨太的死显然都跟尤绍雄毫无关系，真凶究竟是谁呢？
