四姨太提出要和关大铭单独打麻将，关大铭欣然应允，原来关大铭已经从于大姐那里了解到四姨太的真实情况。四姨太终于得到了关大铭的理解，非常高兴，也向关大铭讲出了她所知道的尤家内部情况。罗兴泉跟踪三姨太找到胡云家，从他口中追查到三姨太和某个人当晚要离开临江，约好在胡家上车。三姨太临走前还想捞一把，在尤贤白寝房里偷值钱的东西时，看见了尤贤白藏着的一张发黄的旧照片，蓦然悟到什么，心生歹意。关大铭和罗兴泉到胡云家设伏，贾小蝈留在公馆里监控三姨太。三姨太潜入密室，告诉尤绍雄发现了四姨太的一个天大秘密，要逼四姨太拿出一大笔钱来消灾，两人遂决定等钱到手后再逃。关大铭和罗三拐在胡云家白蹲守一夜，一无所获地返回。三姨太拿着照片去敲诈四姨太，被送茶的玉香婶撞见。原来照片上是年轻时的尤贤白和一个女戏子的亲昵合影，而这女戏子酷似四姨太，联想到尤贤白对四姨太反常的偏袒，三姨太认定其母女俩都与尤贤白关系苟且同侍一夫。这对清高矜持、视名誉如生命的四姨太犹如青天霹雳，虽然一口否认，但自己心里也不踏实。关大铭对三姨太突然变卦很疑惑，叫贾小蝈盯住她，自己和罗三拐回局里汇报。曾管家从玉香婶得知了三姨太敲诈的事，亲自去劝阻，要三姨太赶紧带着尤绍雄逃走。三姨太认为他是故意想吓走自己和尤绍雄，好独吞家产，并把所有罪过都推到他们身上，所以坚持不拿到钱不走。晚上，贾小蝈立功心切，私自去审问三姨太，结果被三姨太脱光衣服说他非礼，吓得贾小蝈赶快逃走。由于贾小蝈的莽撞留下了空挡，三姨太被人装鬼吓死了。
