Kuzey ve Güney, pusuladaki iki farklı yön gibi, karakterleri ve hayalleriyle de farklı iki kardeştir. Birbirlerine olan bağlılıkları dışında tek ortak noktalarıysa, babaları Sami'nin işlettiği simit fırınına sığamayacak kadar büyük hayallerinin olmasıdır. Kuzey askeri okul sınavlarını kazanıp, ileride başarılı bir asker olacak; Güney ise iyi bir üniversitede okuyup, hedeflediği kariyere doğru sağlam adımlarla ilerleyecektir. Ancak iki kardeşin hayallerinin gerçeğe dönüşebilmesi için kaderlerini de değiştirmeleri gerekecektir. Cemre ve annesi Gülten'in yaşadıkları mahalleye taşınmasıyla Kuzey ve Güney'in hayatında da yeni bir sayfa açılır. Cemre'nin varlığı, iki kardeşin yaşamına farklı bir soluk getirir. Üç yakın arkadaş, "aşkla" da bu dönemde tanışır. Kızının Tekinoğlu ailesiyle olan bağını onaylamayan Gülten'in ise, Cemre'nin geleceğiyle ilgili farklı hayalleri vardır. Sami ile mutsuz ve sevgisiz devam eden evliliğine yıllar içerisinde alışan Handan'ın, geleceğe dair hayallerini canlı tutan tek kişiyse oğlu Güney'dir. Hem çalışkan, hem de sakin yapısıyla Güney, aynı zamanda Kuzey'in aile içinde kopardığı fırtınaları da sakinleştiren kişidir. Üniversite sınavlarından bir gün önce, Kuzey ile Sami'yi karşı karşıya getiren olay, tüm ailenin hayatını altüst edecek "o geceyi" de beraberinde getirir. Tekinoğlu ailesinin yaşayacağı felaketin arkasındaki gerçek sebebi, Kuzey yıllar boyunca bir sır olarak kalbinde tutmak zorunda kalacaktır. Kuzey ve Güney, siyah ve beyaz olarak ayrılan karakterlerine rağmen, birbirlerine sıkı sıkıya bağlı iki kardeştir... Tekinoğlu ailesini altüst eden "o gece" yaşandıktan sonra, iki kardeş paylarına düşen kaderi, ömür boyu sırtlarında taşıyacaktır.
