After punching her superior officer in the army, 18-year-old Avigail goes AWOL and back to the stuffy apartment she shares with her dysfunctional mother and her young sister. In the boiling heat of a desert hometown, Avigail hopes to finally lose her virginity, but instead she discovers that her sister is pregnant, and that she’s the only one capable of sorting out the mess. Avigail embarks on a series of thefts, lies, and manipulations in order to obtain the money for her sister’s abortion, a journey in which she’ll experience the depth of despair, but also true freedom.
