「花御膳を食べて食中毒になった」と一人の老人から訴えがあった。――驚きの一報を聞いた新吾（松岡昌宏）は、岸野（伊藤英明）とレストランに駆け付ける。店内には校長の岩瀬（平田満）や、観光課課長の戸倉（金田明夫）らが集まっていた。プロの料理人である新吾がついていながらなぜ？ 原因は何か？ 切羽詰まった雰囲気になる一同。そのころ新吾の父・定俊（原田芳雄）と妹の遥（吹石一恵）は、病院に運ばれた老人・高科悠平（織本順吉）の家を訪ねていた。悠平は定俊の檀家だったのだ。6年前妻に先立たれた悠平は東京にいる娘や孫とも疎遠のようで、一人ぽつんと暮らしていた。そのことを知った岸野は帰り道、本数の少なくなったバスを待つ老人や、シャッター街となった商店街を歩きながら、思い至る。自分が考えていた町おこしはこの町でたくさん暮らすお年寄りを置き去りにしたままだったと…。同じころ、陽介（神木隆之介）や真衣（川島海荷）ら部員たちも同様のことに気づく――。そして、この町で暮らすお年寄りのために何かできないかと考え始める。翌日。新吾は陽介たちから新しいメニューの必要性を訴えられる。それは「お年寄りに喜んでもらえるメニュー」だった。この町にはお年寄りがたくさんいる。その人たちに気兼ねなくレストランにきてもらい、仲良くご飯を食べて欲しい……。生徒たちの言葉に、新吾そして岸野の心は大きく揺り動かされる――。
