高校生レストランのオープンまであと2週間。新吾（松岡昌宏）は、調理クラブの生徒たちの指導を進める。が、声出しやキュウリ切りなど基本を繰り返す新吾に、また2人の部員がクラブを去っていき、部員は16人になってしまう。新吾についていくと決めた陽介（神木隆之介）や真衣（川島海荷）たちの中にも、クラブ活動が大人の都合で町おこしに利用されることに違和感を隠せない部員もいた。そんな中、町役場・戸倉（金田明夫）がレストランにやってくる。戸倉は「高校生御膳」二百食をレストランで出すよう新吾に強要する。御膳の中身は松坂牛のたたきや煮あなごなど、難易度の高いものばかり。生徒の腕とやる気と人数を鑑み、無理だと判断して怒る新吾に、戸倉は「このレストランは税金でまかなわれている。アンタは難しいと知って仕事を受けたんじゃないんか！」とまくしたてる。岸野（伊藤英明）の取りなしでなんとか場は収まるが、それを聞いていた部員たちの間にも動揺が走っていた。レストランをオープンさせるには、部員は最低でも30人は必要だ……そう考えた新吾と岸野は文香（板谷由夏）に頼み、なんとか部員を戻せないかと相談する。が、文香から「落ちこぼれを生まないことが真の教育。調理のできる生徒を厨房に、できない生徒を接客にまわし、生徒間の格差を生んでいる村木先生のやり方には協力できない」と突っぱねられてしまう。その頃、陽介たち部員も話し合いをしていた。「大人の都合でレストランができたとしても構わん。自分達の将来のために、俺らがこのチャンスを利用するべきだ」という陽介に賛同した部員たちは、高校生御膳の試作を始める。もちろん新吾には内緒で――。あくる日、東京から風間（高橋克実）という男が新吾を訪ねてくる。風間は新吾が働いていた料亭のオーナーだった。風間は新吾の父・定俊（原田芳雄）と妹の遥（吹石一恵）に、新吾がなぜ板前を辞めたのかを話し出した。そして、風間は高校生レストランを訪れ、新吾に「戻ってこい」と言う――。
