Bianca, a marriageable young lady from a good family in Renaissance Italy is promised to Giovanni, a young, rich merchant. The marriage is agreeable, but Bianca can't hide her disappointment at having to wed a man she barely knows. Then she learns a new secret that opens up her world: her family is in possession of a costume (of sorts) known as a "man's skin". By putting it on, Bianca can become "Lorenzo" and benefit from the freedom afforded a young man of astonishing beauty. She can experience the world of men incognito and get to know her fiancé in his natural habitat. Dressed in her man's skin, Bianca not only gains freedom, but also discovers love and sexuality.
