Takeshi Yoroi ist ein ganz normaler Detektiv – bis eines Tages die Menschheit angegriffen wird! Um das Mädchen Emi zu beschützen, muss er in die Rolle des Superhelden Polymar schlüpfen. Als sich die Situation jedoch zuspitzt, erhalten die beiden von zwei anderen Superhelden Hilfe: Ken Washio aka Gatchaman und Jouji Minami aka Tekkaman. Wenig später ist mit Tetsuya Azuma aka Casshern und seinem Android-Hund Friender die Truppe komplett, und das ist auch gut so. Bösewicht Z steckt hinter dem Angriff und möchte nun diese Welt, wie auch schon viele andere, dem Erdboden gleichmachen und sie in sein Artefakt „Case“ hochladen. Problem ist nur, dass „Case“ auf die Erde gefallen und als magischer Stift in Emis Hände gelangt ist. Nun gilt es, Emi und vor allem diesen Stift zu beschützen und gleichzeitig Z aus dem Weg zu räumen. Doch dann meldet sich ein weiterer Bösewicht, den Takeshi noch von seiner Arbeit als Detektiv kennt – und dieser scheint um einiges gefährlicher zu sein als Z.
