原来慕雪的家人因为康熙年间发生的「南山案」而落得满门抄斩的下场，年幼的慕雪亦在当年暗中转交秋菊抚养，才让慕雪幸免于难。当慕雪成年后，从亲生父亲的书函中知道自己的身世后，便决定入宫刺杀康熙为家族报仇。 胤禛得知一切的原委后，还是决定阻止慕雪，却反被慕雪在逃走时用刀刺伤。胤禛担心康熙安危，便指挥侍卫追捕慕雪，而慕雪之后虽成功来到了康熙的身前，却最终失手被胤禛的侍卫擒获。 康熙承认　当年犯错 康熙得知慕雪是「南山案」的遗孤后，便使开所有侍卫，并只带胤禛及慕雪进殿内的佛堂，之后慕雪发现佛堂之中竟然安放着「南山案」所有受害者的灵位。原来康熙执政多年，一直为错判「南山案」而感到自责，现在终于能与其遗孤见面，便决定让慕雪刺杀自己来赎罪，但慕雪最后竟然决定放康熙一条生路。 老冯怀疑　小鱼身分 小鱼一直怀疑老冯就是五味大师，便决定潜入澡堂调查，可惜却一无所获，反而因此被老冯怀疑其身分，更暗示天宝要对小鱼多加提防。 小鱼到若碧家作客，亦终于将自己与五味大师的恩怨告诉若碧。原来五味大师就是小鱼的亲生父亲，当年五味大师突然抛妻弃女一去不返，小鱼长大后便因此决心离家追寻五味大师。 天宝因为担心小鱼就是宫中盛传的刺客，便对小鱼出言试探。小鱼为了应付天宝，便假称是因为要帮助天宝学会制作五味大师的名菜「火焰奶酪」取悦若碧，才一直苦心追寻五味大师。天宝信以为真，便故意在老冯面前制作火焰奶酪，可惜老冯却不为所动，令天宝的计划失败收场。 胤禛被撤　宫中要职 胤禛因为未能解决满汉不公的问题而找思道求教，而思道认为要解决大清的问题，只有胤禛登基为皇才能成事，令胤禛心中因此有了夺位的念头。 另一方面，消息灵通的胤禩得知慕雪曾经入宫打算行刺康熙，便责怪慕雪隐瞒自己，同时又指示太监德胜向康熙进言，终令胤禛被康熙撤去尚书房要职，终生不能干涉大清政务。 胤禛发现自己令康熙大感失望，更丧失父皇对自己的信任，登时感到气馁。而胤禛的失势，也令一直侍奉在旁的冯鹰被八王党在京城大街当众欺侮。 思道猜测　康熙心意 思道得知康熙排挤胤禛后，便意识到康熙有意继位给胤禛。而思道更估计高调撤去胤禛的要职，其实亦只为保护胤禛免被八王党暗中攻击。听罢思道的分析后，胤禛亦相信思道的见解，决定静观其变。… ...
