胤禛虽然平息了满族子弟在京城制造的混乱，但是康熙却突然搁置胤禛的新政策，令胤禛感大惑不解。 胤禛为寻求答案，于是亲自出宫找思道请教，原来思道在事件发生当日，一直也有在暗处目击胤禛平乱的经过，于是他直指是因为胤禛当日没有对满族子弟痛下杀手，才会令新政不能确实执行。胤禛闻言后如当头棒喝，开始反省自己的懦弱为社稷所带来的伤害。 为救慕雪　胤禩受伤 索额图因为康熙对满族子弟施行苛政，便出兵围堵京城，康熙满朝文武百官以至平民百姓皆感人心惶惶。为了平息内乱，康熙决定派出众王子声望最高的胤禩出面与索额图谈判。胤禩为了成为太子的继任人选，便接受了康熙的命令。 但是当胤禩回到孤儿院与慕雪见面之时，胤禩却被索额图派出的刺客所暗算，而胤禩为了保护慕雪，力拼下虽赶走刺客但受了重伤。慕雪在照顾胤禩的时候，终于知道早前医治自己的「七色菇」并非由胤禩所赠，但是胤禩为救自己而被刺客所伤，故此慕雪认为胤禩才是自己的恩人。 胤禛请求　天宝合作 胤禩受伤后，康熙便需要另找人选与索额图谈判，胤禛为了将功补过，决定自告奋勇代替受伤的胤禩进行谈判，而康熙亦接受了胤禛的请求。 胤禛心感索额图不会接受自己提出的条件，但为了尽快平乱，决定在谈判中设计刺杀索额图，并向天宝提出，希望他能与自己一起参与暗杀计划。 天宝得知自己将要以身犯险后，便紧张得彻夜不能入眠。想不到天宝最后更临阵退缩，并叫李卫将自己拒绝参与行动的事告知胤禛。胤禛明白天宝的想法，故此并没有怪责天宝而决定独自出发，但最后胤禛在半途中重遇天宝，天宝为了报答胤禛的恩情，最终也没有离弃他。 天宝出手　保护老冯 胤禛在天宝的帮助下，终成功刺杀索额图，康熙闻讯大喜，更赏赐平乱有功的天宝一只金酌子。 得到康熙器重的天宝，见老冯在宫中偷取鸡肉被鹤亭发现，竟然不顾自己资历尚浅便出面包庇老冯。事后天宝发现老冯偷偷地为一名老宫女精心制作鸡汤，令天宝因此对老冯的往事感到好奇。 康熙准备　再立太子 康熙在平定索额图事件后，决定重新册立太子，其中以胤禩的呼声最高，但是胤禩明白出手平定索额图之乱的胤禛就是太子之位的唯一对手，而康熙亦决定容后才决定人选。… ...
