陈近南让小宝加入天地会，按照天地会规矩他在韦小宝的双脚刺下了反清复明四个字。陈近南任命韦小宝为天地会青木堂香主，他告诉会中兄弟韦小宝在宫中身居要职，天地会可以利用韦小宝里应外合一举杀死清廷皇帝康熙。花姐来到京城寻找韦小宝，徐香主得知她是小宝的娘亲便把花姐带到了天地会的香堂。韦小宝告诉花姐自己现在是天地会的人了，而且还是总舵主陈近南的徒弟。韦小宝虽然不愿意当青木堂的香主，但是形势所逼他不得不被迫接受。回到自己房间韦小宝告诉花姐自己还在宫廷当差。天地会就是因为自己在皇上身边做事才让自己做香主，因为他们要反清复明杀死皇帝。花姐听后花容失色为韦小宝的性命担心。陈近南把天地会的口令传授给了韦小宝让他回宫去继续当差。离开天地会韦小宝如鱼得水带着花姐逛京城，买了一大车的东西，花姐开心的不得了。韦小宝完好无损回到皇宫，康熙和建宁都非常高兴。建宁把韦小宝传唤到宁寿宫正跟他耳鬓厮磨时，太后却来了。韦小宝赶忙逃回自己的住所，建宁却又追了过来。韦小宝把花姐也带进皇宫住在自己的房间，建宁闻到了脂粉味，她在韦小宝房间四处寻找女人。韦小宝吓唬建宁今天是海公公的忌日把建宁给吓走了。花姐藏在床底下告诉韦小宝说这皇宫自己是一天也呆不下去了。平西王吴三桂的势力越来越大，康熙隐约有些不安。康亲王和索额图建议康熙对待吴三桂还是要以安抚为主。吴三桂派儿子吴应熊前来朝见康熙，吴应熊说云南这些年收成不好财政非常紧张，没有好的贡品献给皇上让皇上不要怪罪。吴应熊还说自己这次进京是来提亲的，先皇曾经答应把建宁公主许配给他。徐香主和沐王府的白二侠、苏兄弟比武，徐香主受了重伤，白二侠却死了。两家因此发生了冲突，天地会的人要小宝替徐香主到沐王府寻求公道。来到沐王府双方说辞不一，韦小宝让他们把比武详情重新演示一遍，发现徐香主的确是逼不得已才和他们动手的，面对事实真相沐王府的人无话可说。
