荒凉寒冷的富士山，几名登山者艰难地向着山顶进发。他们咬紧牙关，面色凝重，心中各自藏着难以为人道的心事，并背负永世难以摆脱的罪业。豆田日都子（坂井真纪 饰）自幼被寄养在外婆八重子（藤村志保 饰）的家中，她曾见过一位为消除罪业而削发忏悔的僧人，却最终未能摆脱心灵上的折磨所呈现出的骇人景象，而她日后也无奈步了母亲的后尘。岩渕启吾（宫崎将 饰）厌烦了失败的婚姻，他转而联系上前女友朔美（满岛光 饰），旧日美好似乎重来，却也将他的人生卷入万劫不复。作为向导的野泽亮一（井浦新 饰）和在山中小屋为登山者做饭的佐藤真（永濑正敏 饰）是童年好友，25年前的一场悲剧彻底改变了他们的性格和人生。深至灵魂的罪业，纵使海角天涯也无法挣脱…… 本片根据角川光代的同名短篇小说集改编。
