宋朝八王爷的剃度大典上，负责仪式的住持趁机刺杀八王爷，被天玑府的校尉杨卯、牛大力与马川芎及时阻止。 天玑府主脑凤南天率部下进大典现场被阻，南天出示皇上令牌，谓天玑府乃皇上直接任命，各省部或官员均不得阻挠。 囚犯仇虎趁机逃走，天玑府都尉佘百年认为，在狱中一直守规矩的仇虎突然逃狱，是因为其母最近过世，他已无后顾之忧。南天欣赏百年精准的分析，放心由百年领导太阴阁，惟叹太阳阁的校尉均未成大器，却无合适的领导人才。 仇虎被捕　狂龙失踪 仇虎十年前抢劫金库失手被擒，川芎认为他去了梧州寻仇，因为当年仇虎的合作夥伴狂龙事后失踪，天玑府却无追寻此人，记录中亦无狂龙的画像，怀疑狂龙与天玑府有不法交易。南天表示当年正是因为狂龙告密，天玑府才能捉拿仇虎及其党羽，他命川芎等到梧州捉拿仇虎归案。南天身体不适，川芎替他把脉开方，提醒南天按时服药。 朝廷悬红五千両捉拿仇虎，居梧州一小村内的朱从正担心仇虎会到来伤害村民，其妻桃花却希望仇虎真的前来，合全村人之力把他捉拿，则可分享赏金。 沿途下毒　引出狂龙 从正夫妇经营一饭店名桃花林，生意勉强维持。从正提议离开悟州，桃花不舍，且也不欲抛下干儿子不顾。从正半夜梦到仇虎杀害桃花而惊醒，想尽快离开，桃花却不当一回事。 仇虎到梧州后沿途下毒，杀伤无数，川芎替伤者检查后表示，七天内找不到解药必死无疑。川芎虽懂解毒，但时间不足，所以必须找到仇虎。 川芎推断仇虎在人多的地方下毒，目的是引狂龙出来，随即赶往市集。从正夫妇到市集买物品，途中其干儿子跑出来与他们嬉戏。桃花听到市集有酒派发，即与众村民蜂拥而上。 村民饮酒后中毒，从正即拉着桃花赶回家。川芎尾随从正，却因大力喝酒后不适无法前行。川芎接到仇虎的信，提出以狂龙交换解药。 不愿丈夫　冒险换药 从正促妻子离开，川芎与两同僚却已找至家门来。从正让桃花往下厨款客，川芎看出桃花并不知道丈夫的往事，从正请各人替他保守秘密。从正明白川芎等到访的目的，亦打算与仇虎作一了断，但要求先把桃花送到安全的地方。 桃花偷听到丈夫与客人的对话，在茶中下泻药，以免丈夫被监视，并即取出丈夫收藏的兵器，与夫出走。… ...
