本剧讲述的是一名叫Axl Johnson的学生，在他二十一岁生日那一天，他发现他们全家都是北欧众男神的化身。但是他们还不能完全使用自己的神力除非Axl（奥丁的化身）能够找到奥丁妻子Frigg的化身。但是三个北欧女神将会登场，她们也在寻找Frigg的化身。而她们希望先男神们一步来阻止Axl 这样男神们的神力就无法超越她们了。同时Axl还得对付另一个反派的北欧男神洛基（Loki），同时第二季末尾时还将出现毛利神的神殿，这些因素加在一起使得事态进一步复杂化了。《全能约翰逊兄弟》是一部精彩的新西兰魔幻电视连续剧。它由James Griffin 以及Rachel Lang共同创作，南太平洋制作公司（South Pacific Pictures）出品。从2011年的2月7号开始播出第一季，共10集。　　2009年的12月，新西兰广电局（NZ On Air）通过决议，决定投资拍摄《全能约翰逊兄弟》第一季。2011年6月，新西兰广电局（NZ On Air）决定继续投拍第二季。第二季共13集，于2011年10月开拍，次年2月完成拍摄。2012年2月29日，第二季进行首播，一直到同年5月23日，播放完毕。　　2012年9月6日，众主演在各自的Twitter上发表博文，均表示该片将不会拍摄第三季。（即使片中重要情节尚未完结）。这一说法也得到了创始人之一James Griffin的证实。此消息一经流传，即得到了新西兰海内外粉丝的一致反抗。粉丝们纷纷在线留言，写信到TV3 　　甚至发起运动（化身Yggdrasil，该片中的“生命树”），号召大家在Twitter上给TV3留言要求续订该片。　　终于，在2012年10月15日，新西兰广电局确定继续投资拍摄第三季。
