　　考克和斯科特进行着激烈的空战。因维突击骑兵机根本无法抵挡暗影隐形战斗机。他们没有能力同他们看不见的敌人作战。在远征军的舰队又击毁一艘因维的运兵舰之际，斯科特也在其他小队成员的帮助下，结果了考克。 　　瑞吉斯再一次感受到了死亡对她子民的威胁。外星人没有选择的余地，留下遭到屠杀或者永远离开这里。作为因维的母亲，她只能有一次选择的机会。她意识到这种胜利对于双方都是毫无意义的，只会带来更多的仇恨和死亡；尽管因维重建了这个几乎被邪恶摧毁的星球，找寻了一条进化的道路，但是这些都还不够；地球在自然平衡的法则下已经开始自我复苏的过程；然而人类受到机器人统治者的邪恶影响太深了，正在走上一条自我毁灭的道路；因维将会在其他地方继续自己的进化旅程。 　　最后，瑞吉斯化解了远征军玉石俱焚的毁灭性攻击，化成精神凤凰，带领族人撤离了地球。 　　人类在庆祝胜利，兰瑟以黄舞者的身份做最后一场演出，并向公众宣布了他真正的身份。塞拉选择留在地球相伴兰瑟。斯科特接受了他最后的军事任务：去火星基地和部队会合，寻找失踪的SDF-3。伦德和萝克这两个在战斗中的好搭档终于携手人生。安妮和伦克各自组建他们自己的家庭。 　　兰瑟的歌曲又在斯科特耳边响起。这首歌曲在他启程之际，献给他们曾经的指挥官。等待斯科特的不仅仅有朋友——阿丽尔答应他会在她的新家地球等他回来。当斯科特飞离地球时，他扔掉了珍藏多时的项链，痛苦的回忆终于随着过去的信物被丢弃了，他满怀对未来的美好憧憬，飞向茫茫宇宙。
