19岁的梁小菊坐着拖拉机，在乡亲们的羡慕和祝福中，离开了湖南乡下，去往深圳和未婚夫郝永邦结婚。然而郝家却正在举办一场丧事，一家人都沉寂在无比的悲伤中。郝柏山拿着儿子郝永邦生前亲手缝制的衣服，异常的悲痛。郝柏山突然他想到永邦生前在乡下的亲事，连忙让孙子郝天磊给湖南乡下打个电话取消婚事。但是不想，小菊已经在来深圳的路上了。郝柏山于是让郝天磊赶紧去车站接小菊，怕她人生地不熟找不到这里。郝天磊一路上都在回忆舅舅郝永邦对他这个未来舅妈的描述，舅舅对小菊的描述给他的印象就是，一个不嫌弃他有残疾的腿，善良的好姑娘。小菊到了深圳火车站后，与郝天磊擦肩而过。小菊拿着永邦留给自己的地址，自己坐公交车去郝家。上公交车的时候，拿着包学着别人一样刷卡，闹得一车的人哄堂大笑。姜怡亲自出来接董事长方海，并送上生日的祝福。方海很满意姜怡的细心体贴。方海没有看到儿子方羽杰，于是询问姜怡，原来方羽杰正在处理公司元老何晋私自买卖公司商业机密的事情。面对方羽杰一步步拿出的证据，何晋的终于承认自己的所作所为，乞求方海原谅。方海让方羽杰来做主处理这个事情，并对羽杰投以鼓励的微笑。办公室里方海提醒方羽杰姜怡是个不错的女孩，要早点定下来结婚的事情，谁知方羽杰并没有搭理父亲的话，直接关门出去。方羽杰的秘书给他端来茶水，从小方羽杰对香水过敏，但是没有想到秘书喷的香水非常浓郁，方羽杰非常生气将秘书大骂一通。正巧姜怡进来碰到，姜怡调侃羽杰是冰人一个，也暗示自己喜欢对方，但羽杰无动于衷的告诉姜怡，其实一直当她是最好的朋友，并岔开话题说要去参加最好的朋友郝天磊的叔叔葬礼，让姜怡安排一下工作。看到电视里对自己老婆李香如的采访，夸夸其谈的说到自己如何照顾老公如何关爱家庭的时候，方海气愤地关掉电视，并扬言要改遗嘱。
