李大有（黄日华）和李奇（曾江）父子，数名黑帮头子合作讨债公司，由于大有的方式以凶狠出名故为欠债人闻风丧胆。　　郑继凤（尹扬名）因一次交通意外，为救四子而使妻惨死，因而四年来不断自责，但其自小便不得其父郑森喜爱，国小毕后便被父安排于马房任马夫。钱浅（陈秀雯），钟爱玲（蔡少芬）合开一家小公司，因投资失败而负债累累，在有有的讨债公司不断恐吓下，二人几乎走投无路。　　钱、玲赛马日入场一搏，可惜血本无归，玲以为穷途末路时，却见浅又再拿出大笔金钱投注，始知她一直暗藏私己而继凤听信哥继龙的话，输光身上所有金钱，始知龙是戏弄他。浅、玲和有相处后，发觉并非想像中的残暴后更合作发展卡拉OK的生意。有发觉赛马生意必定发财，遂与黑道头子合作，果然赚了大钱。有决定亲自参与赛事，自当马主，而拜访潦倒练马师林登（李家鼎），但当有有邀凤参与时却引起其之恶感。　　浅与有相处后，不自觉对他用了真情而玲亦同样爱慕有，同时有亦对浅产生好感。有购进之马匹“发梦王”悍难驯，幸得马师一鸣耐心训练，终于跑出不错成绩。另一方面大亨保罗对凤很欣赏，凤因感知遇之恩，遂对保罗卖命。小蓝至马场参观与凤相识，蓝更终情于凤，凤因郊鬻C微而不敢领情。　　有和浅感情渐进稳定，而论结婚，于结婚前夕有发现浅吞公款，浅以为婚事告吹而卷款潜逃，此时大因经营遇上危机，而宣告破产，其后忽觉有负玲的爱，而和玲结婚有准备重振旗鼓，向冠鹤挑战，而冷落爱玲，终于有大获全胜，随即要与玲完婚，但内心对浅无法忘情。友有集结各富豪资金，准备于大陆兴建马场，但因政府抨击赛马赌博化，而导致有和凤双双身亡.
