Der Bürgerkrieg im afrikanischen Staat Karibu steht plötzlich im schillernden Licht des westlichen Medienwelt. Täglich wird über den korrupten Präsidenten Kubwasana berichtet, zumindest bis irgendwo in der Welt etwas Interessanteres passiert. Der ortsansässige BBC-Korrespondent Harry Chambers wittert die Chance seines Lebens: Endlich kann er der Welt eindrucksvoll zeigen, was er als Krisen- bzw. Live-Reporter wirklich drauf hat. Doch er hat die Rechnung ohne seinen Arbeitgeber gemacht. Die Londoner Zentrale schickt nämlich ein eigenes Team ... "Taking the Flak" ist eine bissige "Workplace-Comedy" über die riskante Welt von Auslandsreportern, die sich neben den Gefahren des Krieges vor allem vor den eigenen Kollegen in Acht nehmen müssen. Aus Sicht eines BBC-Teams im afrikanischen Fantasieland Karibu wird beschrieben, wie es wirklich hinter den Kulissen zu geht: Eitelkeiten, Konkurrenzdenken, Bestechung und Uninformiertheit - in dieser Komödie wird kein Blatt vor den Mund genommen.
